No superstars in the NBA draft, but help is on the way

The NBA draft is tonight and no one player has separated themselves from the pack as the #1 pick. Every draft can’t be a 2003 draft when LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and even Darko Milicic were talked about. The 2006 draft is loaded with players that can help a team and the term that best describes this draft is ‘the right fit’. Don’t judge this draft by tonight, but in a couple of years when we see how they contribute to their teams. (more…)

Miami wins its 1st NBA title as Dwyane Wade takes his place in the superstar kingdom

Wade Shaq Miamia jpgThe Miami Heat won their 1st NBA title as they came back from an unlikely 0-2 deficit to defeat the Dallas Mavs Tuesday night 95-92 led by Dwyane Wade’s 36 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists performance. For all the talk of LeBron James being the heir apparent to Michael Jordan, Dwyane Wade played last, so the bandwagon mentality of writers and fans says it’s Wade that’s the best in the league now. At least until the season starts again, Wade is the King. (more…)

Dallas Fans Show their True Colors

Dallas fans showed their colors tonight when the Heat beat the Mavericks. When David Stern was presenting the trophy most fans booed the Miami Heat.

I hate this lack of sportsmanship. During a game I hate it, but that is one thing. After it is over and the Heat played their hearts out you should congratulate your enemy for a well fought battle.

Dallas this year showed their lack of class with how they treated their worthy foe the San Antonio Spurs, and now this.

Does Dallas have any class at all?

The world in sports from my view 6/18

It seems like every week I keep saying how this is the best time of the year because of all the sports and it is. The NBA and NHL finals are coming to a close, the US Open Golf tournament was unbelievable, the College World Series is in full-swing, the World Cup Soccer has opened eyes and baseball is still seeing tight races in every division. Where or when does it ever end? (more…)

How the World Cup is converting a non-believer

Soccer is one of those sports that I can take or leave when it comes to watching sports. I’m a hardcore sports fan though and kind of view myself as Mikey in the old Life cereal commercial where his brother says “Give it to Mikey, he’ll eat anything.” This World Cup has me eating anything and actually enjoying it. The question is what has changed my mind and how long will it last? (more…)

Does the NBA want Miami to Win

With the Stackhouse suspension does the NBA want the Miami Heat to win? Or is it that they want the Mavericks to lose? Possibly they do not like owner Mark Cuban and do not want to give him an ever bigger pulpit to be a bully.

Interesting thoughts. I think they were getting tired of people hurting Big Ole Shaq. Hopefully the NBA will start rewarding good basketball and not thugs.

NBA Scouts for Game 5

Miami shot 59 percent from the line in Game 3, even with Shaq going 4-for-6. The other Heat players must step up and make free throws for the Heat to have any chance of winning the next two games at home.

The Mavs went to Nowitzki off the left hand box up the mid lane throughout the second half. This proved to be an effective spot to get Dirk the ball. Look for the Mavs to continue this in Game 4.
