NBA Top 5

So the NBA is hitting the home stretch and over on this blog I posted an NBA Top 5 list. Here it is:

  • 1.  San Antonio Spurs - after beating Dallas this past week, Spurs look Manu Ginobli San Antonio Psurs Detroit Pistons NBA Top 5strong.  I do see some weakness.  I wish their outside shooting was stronger from some their players so it could open up Duncan for an easier time inside. If the Spurs can get Duncan and the other guys healthy I feel that they may peak at the right time.  Ginobli has yet to peak and so I see the Spurs looking strong to finish it all out.
  • 2.  Detroit Pistons - This is a tough one.  They have been the best team all season but I think they are a bit tired and with this someone may get hurt.  They are almost a toss-up with Spurs for the top spot.  A few recent losses so I put them in the second spot.
  • 3.  Dallas Mavericks - Until recently would have also been tied up top of the leader board but with a loss to Spurs I put them in the third spot.
  • 4.  Phoenix Suns - Looking strong with Marion and Nash plus riding a 10 game win streak.
  • 5.  Miami pulls the five spot but is a large step down from the other four.  They hold a good winning percentage in a an overall weaker conference.  We will see how Shaq can hold up till the end of the playoffs.  They can go far, but doubtful if they can play with the big boys.
  • So what do you think? What are your top 5? How do you think the NBA will pan out over the next couple of months?

After an embarrassing run of several years in which the world stood up, no longer intimidated by the United States, the quest for Olympic gold in China in 2008 begins with the announcement of the 25 players that will try out to make the official team. An interesting note to this process will be some of the players that have rejected or we’re not invited to be on the team (more…)
